A client can call you for site inspection, floor measurement, planning, or project discussion. You leave your comfort zone early in the morning, pay transport, carry tools, spend energy, and sacrifice your time just to inspect the site and calculate the work properly.

Sometimes transportation for site inspection alone starts from ₦10,000 if the location is nearby. If the project is outside the state, the expenses become even higher. Feeding, transport, loading tools, accommodation, and movement all come from the worker’s pocket first before any payment is made.

After all the stress, calculations, and planning, some clients will still reject the offer or give the project to another person.

That means the money, time, and effort spent chasing that project becomes a loss.

And even after securing the project, construction work itself is not easy. Standing for long hours under the sun, carrying heavy materials, climbing heights, mixing cement, handling measurements, dust, injuries, body pain, and constant exhaustion are part of the daily reality of site workers.

Not every day is a payday.

Not every inspection becomes a contract.

Not every project brings profit immediately.

This is why many site workers deserve more respect and better payment beyond just workmanship money. The payment is not only for laying blocks or doing finishing — it is also for the experience, physical strength, transportation, risk, planning, and sacrifices involved in delivering quality work.
